While daily work is primarily done on paper, Google Classroom is a function connected to Google Drive that I use in my classes when completing summative work (good copies of major assignments). Students work online, using either their assigned Chromebook at school, or their own devices at home, to complete these assignments.
At any time, you can log onto your child's Google Classroom account by going to classroom.google.com. (Each student should know their own school account email/username and password.) There you can see assignments, due dates, and any comments I have given them on their work. Student work is stored in Google Drive, under their school email account.
*NOTE - Students are expected to get their homework and assignments done, despite any technological issues. I give a generous amount of class time to complete assignments, so work at home should rarely be necessary if students are using their class time well. (Daily expected "homework" in LA is self-selected reading - please see the "Why Read?" tab for more information - and studying as needed.)
The public library is a great resource where students can use computers for free in order to complete assigned work, if computer internet access is not available at home. As well, our school library is open every day during the lunch break, and students may use this time to work on assignments if they need to. If students have a personal device with internet access, they can also access their account through these.
